I am sad this is ending...summer book club anyone!!

Hi girlies. Hope you are enjoying your weekend and the beautiful weather! I just sat down to write my mid-term and re-read over all of our main posts and side comments. This blog was a great experience and I am sad it is ending. Having coversations about teaching and poetry and Giovanni has been a great experience. I am looking forward to the "paired teaching" and winding down on this project, but hope to continue the concept of book/blog clubs/groups, in my personal life and in my classroom. :)

  1. I hear you on that Erica, it is sad that this is ending. I'm totally up for continuing to share poetry and thoughts on here during the summer. I have to figure out how to get video to embed in a post... I try but it takes me a crazy long time and then it freezes.

if you guys are up for it I would love to continue sharing our own poetry and writing...I would love the feedback :-)

oooo, so I know this might not be a little difficult to do during our lesson, but a i-quilt would tie in so well with a community poem, I could edit it after class and have a camera we could use. It would be cool, kinda like a permanent reminder of the class... anyhoo, I just thought of that. Let me know what you think.

  3. I posted last night and I guess it didn't work. lol. So anyway, I really loved this experience of reading and discussing Nikki Giovanni with you two. I had wrote before how it is really hard to talk to people about poetry because it seems that a lot of people are scared of it, or don't read it regularly. I mean I can discuss books and film and tv forever with people, but talking about poems in this natural way is something to cherish.

Anyways, I think we should keep the blog goin and possibly even write poems every now and then. You are both really great writers.

I think the i-quilt thing is really cool. it makes me think of her poem called "Quilt" which is really freaking good. It is really sad, but so beautiful.

We have to meet up and talk over coffee some night coming up to really discuss our teaching. I think we should come up with soemthing really really great.

    see ya!!!
